Play Sets the Tone for Life

Ask any kid what her or his favorite activity is, and you’ll always get the same answer – playing. Their toys and games of choice may vary, but playing is what they love best. As it turns out, that’s a very good thing, because playing stretches the imagination, encourages creativity, and helps them to develop their cognitive, social, and communication skills. In fact, it is now believed that how – and how much – they play sets the tone for children’s entire lives.

These references to playing pertain to physical activity, which is becoming a lost art in this world of computers, cell phones, and high-tech, electronic games.
